Values? What making the money. I think they should honor contracts. Period. If you are in a bad contract shame on you. If they try to get around what’s been agreed to in writing, shame on them.
These problems are certainly not unique to publishing. But, I think, where the difference is, is that in publishing’s case, we actually CAN take direct action and take our business elsewhere. I don’t think that’s an option for many others! Here, we CAN leave the worldview if treated unfairly, and many are.
Yeah, “values” is a moot point when dealing with Big Business. But, break our contracts, and we leave….
