Twilight Zone

The Night Gallery

I loved this show!

It, along with the Twilight Zone, were some of my favorite TV series, but, alas, try to find a rerun for Night Gallery on satellite TV! Luck is with the land lines, however, as Me-TV is coming to other, terrestrial providers.

Night Gallery is also available on Hulu.com, so I gave the site a try and watched the episode, “They’re Tearing Down Tim Riley’s Bar.” What a great episode!

Twilight Zone—My 25 Favorite Episodes!

Well, I’ve been putting this off for years, but after visiting some recent Twilight Zone-related blogs (here and here) and being asked the question–and seeing an actual list from one of the sites—I decided, okay, I really should put down a list of my favorite episodes. So, here they are—in no particular order (except the top 4 really are my top four):

  1. And When the Sky was Opened
  2. Judgment Day
  3. The Arrival
  4. The After Hours
  5. Mirror Image
  6. King 9 Will Not Return
  7. The 7th is Made Up Of Phantoms
  8. Nightmare at 20,000 Feet
  9. The Thirty-Fathom Grave
  10. Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up
  11. A Game Of Pool
  12. Long Live Walter Jameson
  13. Death Ship
  14. The Passage of the Lady Anne
  15. Nothing In The Dark
  16. A Passage For Trumpet
  17. Ring-A-Ding Girl
  18. Perchance To Dream
  19. The Last Flight
  20. The Changing of the Guard
  21. A Stop at Willoughby
  22. A World Of His Own
  23. Trouble With Templeton
  24. The Passersby
  25. The Hunt

I’m a fan of ATMOSPHERE, which can clearly be seen in some of my selections, like Judgment Day, Lady Anne, Martian, etc., and there are some others missing, like I Am The Night, Color Me Black. And in my review of episodes, I think I actually found one I have never seen:  An Occurrence At Owl Creek. How did I miss this? Must also be another rare episode. I mean, thanks to Shadow & Substance, but I even caught the rare George Takei episode, The Encounter, a powerful and polarizing episode rarely aired. But you can also see the ex-military side of me, and my love of ships, subs, and aircraft. But I also love the reincarnational and paranormally weird. But, hey, I’m a Twilight Zone fan, right?

Will this list change? Just like the Twilight Zone is a state of mind, so this list is a result of my state of mind at any one moment in time….

But, oh, how these bring back such wonderful images, emotion, and atmosphere!

John-Boy Wrote For The Twilight Zone!

Yeah, wrap your head around that one!

My wife and I were watching The Waltons the other day. Yeah, you heard that right–I was watching The Waltons. It’s really a very good show–even today. Tame, to be sure, but extremely well-written and well-acted.

Anywho, as my wife and I were talking about Earl Hamner, Jr.–whose name really had a familiar ring to it besides it being from The Waltons–we did some Internet searches…and found that (I’ll be damned!) Earl Hamner, Jr., had written eight Twilight Zone episodes!

Ergo, John-Boy–who is obviously the character for Mr. Hamner, Jr.–left Walton Mountain and ended up writing for Rod Serling!

Twilight Zone.

Just thought you should know.

Layin Low and Regoupin….

December 31, 2011 by fpdorchak

I have been layin’ low and regroupin’ this “Holiday Season,” as I like to call it. And it’s been nice. Been visiting with family, doing some reading and a little writing (sorry, no blog posting), following some writer group loop postings, but not much else…just a general all-around kickin’ back.  Always on the move, always go-go-GOING, it felt great takin’ it easy (at least what I call “takin’ it easy”). Can’t believe how dang fast the year has flown past.

So, one door closes and another is opening. Kinda cool how that happens, huh? Out with the old, yadda x 3. Things are always changing and moving on. Replenishing themselves. There is constant rebirth all around us. Within us. As I frequently like to say, life is what we all make of it, and for this coming 2012 I’d like all of us to make the most of it and not fall prey to all the media hype about Mayans or approaching planets or any other end-of-world scenario…and chose to enjoy our lives as only each of us knows how to do. But more so, I challenge each of us out there to BELIEVE in ourselves. We all have value, and we all contribute to the world. Make no mistake about this.

We all count.

Make your life count by chosing a more positive experience for yourself…which in turn benefits Humanity, because you are part of a whole, and a whole is greater than the sum of its parts (yeah, it’s the “new math”). What you do, what we think–what we all do and think–affects us all. So, make the best of your life, live with a positive attitude, focus on your positive goals, smile, be happy, and greet life with vigor!

Now, I got a bunch of Twilight Zones to record….

Happy 2012, everybody!
